Child and colors in the wind

Nadir Figueroa

Child and colors in the wind

Oil, acrylic, wood, resin  /  2013 - 100 x 100 x 25 cm

Nadir Figueroa is an artist from Barranquilla who has spent most of his life and the entirety of his career in Medellin, where he currently lives and works. In 2009 he graduated with honors as Master of Fine Arts from the University of Antioquia in Medellin. Since 2000, he has taken part in more than thirty collective exhibitions in cities such as Medellin, Barranquilla, Bogota, Cartagena, Cali, Pereira, Panama, Texas, Madrid and Berlin.

His works are constructed as technical artifices that in principle are conceived as a two-dimensional construction extending into a three-dimensional image formed from their characters and the spaces where they are. Thus, his work becomes a visual record that challenges the viewer to be confronted with the representation of the most accurate or close real image produced in artistic media such as photography. In the case of Figueroa, his work presents the idyll of the sea and its serenity through the use of acrylic paint on a dome illuminated by LED light, accompanied by its characters in resin.  The importance of Figueroa lies in the way he invites the viewer to be part of his images, usually idealized landscapes in which we would like to live in every day.
