Concrete, mineral pigments, fiber optics, led light and stone  /  2020 - 100 x 180 x 5 cm

Born in Barranquilla, Colombia, Nadir Figueroa has lived much of his life and his entire career in Medellín, where he currently lives and works. In 2009 he graduated with honors as a Master in Plastic Arts from the Universidad de Antioquia in Medellín. Since 2000 he has participated in more than thirty group exhibitions and two individual exhibitions in cities such as Medellín, Barranquilla, Bogotá, Cartagena, Cali, Pereira, Panama, Madrid, and Berlin.

His works are technically complex, initially conceived as a two-dimensional construction that ends up being extended into a three-dimensional image formed from his characters and the spaces where they are. Thus, his work becomes a visual record that challenges the viewer to confront the most accurate representation of the real image that occurs in artistic practices such as photography.

Figueroa's work shows us a fundamental concern to understand and capture the landscape, both urban and natural. His work explores the spatial possibilities of the image vividly, through the language of unconventional painting and sculpture.
